Chat Checkpoint · Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what Chat Checkpoint (the "plugin"), published by Auteur, collects when you use it inside ChatGPT, why, and what control you have.
What we collect and process
- The project names, summaries, decisions, facts, open questions, next steps and pinned snippets that you ask ChatGPT to save as checkpoints. ChatGPT writes these summaries; your chat transcript is never sent.
- A hashed, anonymous version of your ChatGPT user id, so only you can see your projects. We never receive your name, email address or chat history.
ChatGPT sends us an anonymous user identifier with each request. We never receive your name, e-mail address or chat history. We store only a one-way hash of that identifier so your saved items stay yours. We do not ask for or accept passwords, payment details, government identifiers or health records.
Why
Only to perform the action you asked the plugin to do and to show you the result. We do not sell data, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use your content to train models.
Who receives it
- No one else. Checkpoints are stored in our database on Cloudflare, our hosting provider, and are not shared, sold or used for training.
How long we keep it
Checkpoints are kept until you delete the project. Every save adds a version so you can compare it with earlier ones; deleting a project erases all of its versions immediately. Server logs that may contain IP addresses are kept by our hosting provider for up to 7 days for security.
Your controls
- Ask ChatGPT to delete a project to erase it and every saved version.
- Lock, reopen or drop any decision from the checkpoint card; each change is saved as a new version.
- Ask ChatGPT to list your projects at any time to see everything that is stored.
Children
The plugin is not directed at children under 13.
